Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. Hebrews 4:16

"Remember that it is not hasty reading, but serious meditation on holy and heavenly truths, that makes them prove sweet and profitable to the soul. It is not the mere touching of the flower by the bee that gathers honey, but her abiding for a time on the flower that draws out the sweet. It is not he that reads most, but he that meditates most, that will prove to be the choicest, sweetest, wisest and strongest Christian." (Thomas Brooks)

I will not believe that we are adopted children for such a line of reasoning speaks to another source to our existence other than the one and only Source that is God, Himself, who has constituted each and every one of us as living souls by the in-breathing of His Life Breath or Spirit into our bodies so that we are body, soul and spirit. We are made in His image and likeness, we are fearfully and wonderfully made, and as the Lord Jesus has taught in the parable of the Prodigal Son, we are each and every one of us, children of God in need of coming home to our Father, not our "adopted" Father.
God Bless
John,
I was paraphrasing scripture...
Gal 4:5 that He might redeem those under Law, so that we might receive the adoption of sons.
Eph 1:5 having predestined us to the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will,
Rom 8:15 For you have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption by which we cry, Abba, Father!
