Implore Them to Stop - Spurgeon

"Oh, my brothers and sisters in Christ,
if sinners will be damned, at least
let them leap to hell over our bodies.

And if they will perish, let them perish with our
arms about their knees, imploring them to stop,
and not madly to destroy themselves.

If hell must be filled, at least let it be
filled in the teeth of our exertions, and let
not one go there unwarned and unprayed for.

From Spurgeon's sermon, "The Wailing of Risca"

Thank you for sharing Spurgeon and show-casing his hunger for the souls of men.If only Arminians would read Spurgeon, then we wouldn't have to put up with all of their calumnies of what we reformed folk believe about reaching the lost. Great post.

Thats true bluecollar. Spurgeon although he didn't suffer like bunyan or knox and especially those worthy to be martyres he certainly spared nothing for preaching Jesus to the Lost.

Doug if you get a chance can you answer this question on the tree of the knowledge of good and evil

Love Spurgeon! God give us more pastors with his passion for the lost.

And people think that Calvinists don’t have a heart for the lost. This should be proof to the scoffers that Spurgeon along with most Calvinists certainly desire for the lost to repent and be converted. If we would only develop the same passion that he did.

Like your blog and thanks for stopping by “The Postmodern Journey to Apostasy”.
