End of the Spear

I am excited to the see the new movie about Jim Elliot and Steve Saint. We are taking our youth group this weekend. How many of you are planning to see it?

Even though I love the story and have been challenged by it for years, I am personally choosing not to go because of the choice by ETE to cast Chad Allen.

That said, I hope your young people are inspired, blessed and challenged by the story. Anyone who sees, hears, or reads this story cannot help but be impacted.

Camreon,

I had just received an email from a family member informing me about that. I had not heard about it. Not a wise move by the makers of the movie.

Doug,
It definitely falls into the category of "What on earth were they thinking?"

I'd like to give them the benefit of the doubt, but as I have said in my blog, I think they did it merely to widen their audience.

Hopefully, I will be proven wrong.

Cameron,

At this point I still plan on seeing the movie, but I'm still shaking my head. The Lord has used heathens in the past to promote His word, and hopefully He will this time too. Though as I mentioned to my family member, the Lord may limit the success of this movie because of their choices.

But then again He may choose to use the movie in a mighty way. The Church once hired Beethoven to write music for worship and the Lord used it greatly.

The Lord spoke through the donkey of Balaam...He can and will use any means to get His point across...:)

Respectfully Doug,

A nickel given to "Hollywood" is a nickel given to Satan, regardless of the movie you are going to see.

Honestly, I would have liked to watch a film on these faithful souls, but there is NO WAY I'm going to support the company who has made such a wicked decision.

Worth considering: do you think any of the missionaries, if they came back to life, would go watch this flick?

I don't think so.

Rand,

I respect your opinion. In fact, after I saw the movie I was disapointed even with its content. The Gospel was surprisingly absent. I thought that it would be an interesting thing to see a homosexual advocate presenting the Gospel, and the word of God which can never return void. But even that didn't happen, except in mild unclear statements here and there.

God Bless,

Doug

P.S. Thanks for visiting my blog
