Is Christianity a Relationship and Not a Religion?
Labels: Contemporary Christian Issues, Video
"Remember that it is not hasty reading, but serious meditation on holy and heavenly truths, that makes them prove sweet and profitable to the soul. It is not the mere touching of the flower by the bee that gathers honey, but her abiding for a time on the flower that draws out the sweet. It is not he that reads most, but he that meditates most, that will prove to be the choicest, sweetest, wisest and strongest Christian." (Thomas Brooks)

Thanks for the video.
This phrase has bothered me for some time, and not so much because of the phrase itself but by what a lot of 'Christians' intend when they say it. However, as you say, if your definition is correct then this phrase is perfectly fine...unfortunately it is often misconstrued.
I actually have written a blog on this:

They differentiate between real sin and their own idiosyncrasies when there is no such difference. In other words, they don't consider those "little, quirky character traits" about themselves as sin. To them, sin is only the big stuff; drug use, sexual immorality, occultism, drunkenness, murder, etc... And since they are not doing any of those things, they assume that they have no sin and that, in turn, becomes a faulty foundation for their belief that their "relationship" with God is "OK."
The problem with this is that most people do not realise that everyone, including you, no matter who you are; everyone already has a relationship with God. The problem is that most people have a bad relationship that is going to condemn them to hell. That's why it is wrong to take the gospel of Jesus Christ, and reduce it to a "relationship with God." It's not about "relationship." It's about "Doing the Will of My Father in Heaven" no matter what you think your relationship is.
