Do You Put Enough Value on Exegesis From Godly Men?

The narrator speakes of the extremes of Rome and the Anabaptists. He goes on to explain some of the problems therein and how it is that we cannot discount the teachings of godly men in orthodox Christian traditions (as do many modern day Evangelicals).

They have a list of names of some of these men and proceed to leave off of it arguably the greatest of these men who fought against both Rome and the Anabaptists.

That they left Martin Luther's name off the list just points out their hypocrisy in even bringing up the question. Martin Luther's commentaries on Romans and Galatians and his catechisms are some of the finest orthodox Christian teachings that have ever been penned.

Absolutely unbelievable.

Steve,

Why they did not mention Martin Luther, I do not know. He is clearly one that we should read. Having heard some of this narrator's other teachings, my understanding is that he greatly admires the writings of Martin Luther so I'm not so sure this actually points out any kind of hypocrisy. The point in the video is that we need to be reading the teachers that God has given us. I don't think the main point was to tell us which ones exactly even though a few were mentioned.

God Bless,

Doug

Doug,

I see what you mean Doug.

I was just wondering if there was some sort of bias. I would understand completely if there were. Lutheran theology isn't exactly at the top of everyone's hit parade. It relies too much on God's work (for us) on not enough on our contribution.

To me, not mentioning Luther with those others is like forgetting to mention George Washington with the Founding Fathers.

Thanks Doug!
